Module Guide:
Module 1 – Introduction and Project Framework
Understand how the CHSA integrates with the six SACPCMP project stages, with particular attention to common gaps in Stage 4 (permits, statutory appointments, Section 37.2, etc.).
Module 2 – Designer Duties
Covers the statutory responsibilities of designers under South African Construction Regulations, focusing on hazard identification, risk mitigation, and ensuring compliance from concept to completion.
Module 3 – Understanding the Project Stages
Explore each project stage’s unique safety challenges and how a structured, phased approach improves coordination and risk management.
Module 4 – Stage 1: Initiation and Briefing
Learn how to establish a health and safety brief, develop competency frameworks, and assist in early-stage risk profiling.
Module 5 – Stage 2: Concept and Feasibility
Understand the importance of including safety in early decisions, budgeting for H&S, and aligning scope with specialist input.
Module 6 – Stage 3: Design Development
Dive into the legal and practical aspects of integrating safety during the design phase, ensuring constructability and safe use.
Module 7 – Stage 4: Tender Documentation and Procurement
Master CHSA contributions to procurement, contractor evaluation, and compliance with appointments such as the 16.1 responsible person and Section 37.2 agreements.
